Jiel Narvekar: Poetry

Silken Jewels

Dewdrops
on a fall morn
glisten as they catch
the first light.

Fracturing rays
into tiny rainbows.
They slip from a leaf
settling softly
on a spider’s web.

Water pearls
tremble on the strand.
The spider scurries
along jewelled silk.

Hearth and Heart

The oven exhales its aroma,
radiating heat,
blending the alchemy
of flour and eggs.

Eager eyes, hungry stomachs,
bask in the amber glow.
Merriment rises
with the bloom of the bread.

This chamber yields
delicate wonders,
enveloping the air
with tender redolence.

Winter Reminiscence

Embers from a cigarette
like fireflies dot the dark lanes.
They drift and fade,
leaving behind
a trail of ash and woody smoke.

On a terrace,
a group gathers –
summoned by the youthful thirst
of the first drink.

Laughter and music
float through the air,
a mélange carried
on the cool wind.

The perfect winter night –
something to remember
long after the embers fade,
and music stills.

The cold wind moves on,
in search for fireflies.
